This website offers material for translators of the Old Testament. The focus is on exegetical issues that affect meaning and translation.
In the menu on the left, in Section I you find material on larger TOPICS & THEMES. In Section II, there is material on certain BIBLICAL BOOKS. Toward the bottom, there are various SHORT NOTES on smaller issues listed.
With the material that you find on this website I do not try to cover all issues of a certain biblical book or theme completely and systematically. Rather, I address all kinds of issues that presented a challenge in my own work.
Sometimes, the goal was to compile the essential information from various resources. This means that much more thorough discussions can be found in the literature. In other cases, I found that the standard resources do not provide all the information that would help a translator. So I tried to address the open questions myself. Sometimes I could only come up with tentative conclusions.
The character of the papers ranges from preliminary notes on one page to published articles of 20+ pages.
